Pure gold. Photos from Sayra Alejandra Vasquez’ solo show “Alchemist.”

Vasquez turns her camera on the crowd at the show

It was an honor to be on hand for a special gallery event this weekend as photographer Sayra Alejandra Vasquez debuted beautiful work in her first solo show, hosted in The Studio at Safelight Labs.

The show featured a mixture of new creations — double exposure images shot on film and work from the artist’s archive.

Show attendees rattled off adjectives that summed up their experience of the work as they mingled with a large group of friends and film fanatics. The consensus was that each of the images made the viewer feel something.

Here are some of Vasquez’s images from the show and a selection of our favorite pictures from the night.
